Poltava region is located on the Left Bank Ukraine in its middle part. The area is bordered by Sumy and Chernihiv provinces to the north, east Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk and Kirovohrad from the south, with Kyiv and Cherkassy in western Ukraine.
