The construction of the Powder tower had on 1554-1556 year. This is a monument of fortification, which is the only surviving in Lviv.

The tower was built from stones of the old City Arsenal. Powder tower served not only for the defense of the city. IT is still used as a grain warehouse. From the end of 50th years of the last century the tower was placed at the house of architects. Here often hosts cultural and art events.

The tower is guarded by two stone lions. The thickness of the walls of the tower is about three meters.
