Beregove. Vacation

Beregove - the regional center of the Transcarpathian region. The city is located 70 km southeast of Uzhgorod. It is home to 24,580 people. Space settlement is 19 km. square. A Beregove canal passes Werke. It can be reached by train and by road.

The first written mention of the city dates from the year 1063. In 1342 Beregove was awarded the status of a free royal town privileges. May 22, 1703 at the market square Onshore Tomas Essay announced an uprising against the Habsburgs. In 1945, together with Transcarpathia transferred to the Soviet Ukraine. May 17, 2001 Beregove was awarded the status of regional importance.
 
Among the attractions of the city should be highlighted:
  • Roman Catholic Church of the 12th century, destroyed by the Tatars in 1241, rebuilt 1370-th, restored 1846-th;
  • Bethlen family palace (1629), now a museum Berehove;
  • komitatskoho Court Palace (1908-1909 biennium, Arch. Ferenc Yablonsky), now Transcarpathian Hungarian Pedagogical Institute.
 
Beregove Natives are many prominent figures:
  • Rabbi Hugo Green (1930-1996) - famous British announcer;
  • Linner Bertalon (1877-1969) - surgeon;
  • Basil Muska (1951) - painter, sculptor, architect;
  • Julius Rebecca (April 11, 1944) - Hungarian chemist who worked in the U.S.;
  • Nandor Fodor (1895-1964) - parapsychologist analyst, journalist, researcher of paranormal phenomena;
  • Milton Friedman, American economist and Nobel laureate, whose parents were from Beregove.
