Most western of Ukraine -  Zakarpattia region - bordered by Romania, Slovakia, and Hungary. Regional center is the city of Uzhgorod. The region occupies the seventeenth place in the country in terms of population. It is home to 1,254,396 people. The area is 12,777 km. square. The most important transport cross railway line number 16 and number 175 Chop - Batovo (node) - Mukachevo - Volovets - Pass Baraboo - Lavochne - Stry - Lviv. Also Zakarpattia region has direct rail connections with all neighboring countries. A special role is played in the roads. The first record of people living in 
Zakarpattia belongs to the early Paleolithic period (about 500 thousand years BC. E.). From that time to the present day was a lot of historical events. In the 11 century. the area was Slavic principalities White Croats led by Prince Laborets. In the 11-16 century.  Zakarpattia region was under Hungarian kingdom.  Zakarpattia region is located in the south-western slopes and foothills of the Ukrainian Carpathians. Almost two-thirds of the area occupied by the Carpathian Mountains. The region is the highest peak of the Ukrainian Carpathians and Ukraine - Goverla (2061 m). In the Ukrainian Carpathians, which occupy a large portion of the saved Europe's largest virgin forest sites. The largest and most interesting objects of natural reserve fund of Ukraine belongs to CBR. Ecosystem Reserve assigned to the most valuable on the planet, and since 1993 part of the international network of biosphere reserves by UNESCO. The total area of ​​the reserve is 53,630 hectares, comprises six separate arrays: Montenegrin (highest peak Goverla), Maramures (Pip Ivan - 1940 m above. Ã) Svidovetsky (g Blyznytsi and Dragobrat) Kuziyskiy, Uholsko-Shyrokoluzhansky (the largest branch of beech forests in Europe), "Narcissus Valley."
Uzhansky National Park is located in the northwestern part of the region is an integral part of one of the world trilateral Polish-Slovak-Ukrainian International Reserve "Eastern Carpathians" has been certified MAB UNESCO. In the park grows over 200 species of valuable medicinal plants, 40 of which are included in the Red Book of Ukraine.
National Park "Synevyr" created in 1989 in the upper reaches of the river Tereblya. Here area 40.4 thousand ha preserved forests and alpine meadows where protected nearly 100 species of rare and endangered plants. In the park there are safe and supportive environment for living species such as red deer, brown bear, lynx, grouse, trout, spotted salamander.
Carpathian region is rich with its mineral waters, the most famous: Shayanska, Dragovo, Polyana-Font, Svalyava, Luzhanska, Glade Kvasova, Ploskivskiy.
