Ostroh Academy - an ancient jewel of Ukrainian and world culture

Famous Academy is located in the town of Ostrog, Rovno region. Founded and first official mention considered in 1576. At present is a National University. It is the oldest institution in the territory of Ukraine, as well as the first institution of higher education in Eastern Europe.

The founder of the first school considered Constantine Ostrog, Basil of Ostrog, which also came from the city jail. Important role in the creation of the first Ostrog school also played his niece - Princess Galshka Ostrog.

It is important to note that the first three items that were taught at the academy philosophy, theology and medicine. Accordingly, one can make conclusions for themselves about the importance of the knowledge of God's Word, the knowledge of himself, medetsyny in its development as a whole ..

The first rector of Ostrog Academy was known cultural figure of that time - Gerasimos D. Smotrytsky.  Taught world famous teachers - Christopher Filaleta, Dem 'yang Nalyvayko Basil Surazkyy and inyshyh many famous personalities of the time.

The above-mentioned Damian Nalyvayko - brother of the famous Cossack leader Nalyvaika Severin, who fought for the rights and freedoms of farmers.

In 1636, the Academy ceased to exist, but has left a significant contribution to the cultural heritage of the world - the type hierarchy and a higher education institution was moved to Kyiv.From then spread throughout Eastern Europe.

New breath Academy was in 1994 by the Decree of the President of Ukraine. Then school started actively be built. In 2009, the Academy received the status of self-governing research institution of higher education, giving additional powers to work.

At present, The Academy Faculty of Humanities, Faculty of Romance and Germanic Languages, Department of Economics, Faculty of Political and Information Management, Faculty of International Relations. The Academy has an active position in public life.
