Svaliava - a city in the Transcarpathian region, located within Savelovskaya basin, the river Latorytsia, at the confluence of the rivers Svalyavky (bas. Tisa).

Evidence of ancient history of the city is a monument of nature - in the center Svalyavy oak, whose age is nearly 500 years.
Within the city, the River Latorica between the mouth Svalyavkyta road bridge is the island of Martha Margarita. It is likely that the name of the city derives from the name Svalyavka. This version belongs to the days when salt "Salt of Europe" - Solotvyna - exported to neighboring countries and on the banks of rivers and Svalyavka Latorica was a staging post. Surrounding the town are rich sources of alkali-carbonate type water "Borjomi". Near them established resort "Polyana", "Crystal Power", "Sunshine Transcarpathia", "flower mountain valley", where they treat patients mineral water suitable for bathing and drinking. Preserved here is the Church of St.. Nicholas (1588, 1759) - a masterpiece of Ukrainian wooden architecture. This is a perfect sample of so-called Lemko style.
