To this day the former fortress preserved only in fragments muruvan towers.In steep limestone hill on top of which is a fortress, it is found combined with stairs cave monastery with several tiers of rooms carved into the rock temples and cells. It was founded back in VIII-IX centuries. Hence the name - cave fortress or Inkerman. Fort Kalamita and cave monastery as an entire complex is a unique monument of military and religious architecture of Crimea.
