Lokhvytsia - a city in the Poltava region, the administrative center Lohvytskkoho area. The city lies on the River Lokhvytsia at a distance of 174 km. the city of Poltava.

The first mention of Lokhvytsya dated 1320 year, it indicates that a town that had a fortress. In 1644 Lokhvytsia received Magdeburg rights. The city is home to nearly 12,000 people (as of 1 January 2011). Lokhvytsia area is 30.88 sq. km. The climate here is continental, warm summer, with frequent thaws in winter.

The famous Ukrainian poet Dmytro Bilous poem dedicated to the city of the same name. This poem is included in the collection of poetry "magic periwinkle."

In Lokhvytsia museum is named after Gregory Pans (founded in 1919) and the monument H.Skovoroda (work of sculptor Ivan Kavaleridze, 1922). One of the most beautiful buildings of the city are Blahovischynska church. Among the historic buildings of XIX - early XX centuries - Lokhvytskiy Synagogue, tobacco factory, County uyizd, Jewish Cemetery and many more.
