Central Park of Culture and Rest. Shevchenko was originally called the Alexander, in honor of the Russian Emperor Alexander II, and was founded in 1875. The boundaries of the park since its inception to the present day, passing through the streets Marazliyivskiy, Assumption and Lidersovskiy Boulevard.
Before the foundation of the city to the park was a Turkish fortress Hadzhibey, and after its capture by Russian troops Odessa fortress was built. Now, the castle is a mound of Alexander Column and this is why we launched the first in Imperial balloons.
In 1936 the park was built central city stadium, which is now called the Central stadium "Chernomorets".
In 1954 the park was renamed in with Alexander Shevchenko.
At one time in the park worked Odessites favorite Green House, which remembers the voice soloist L., A. Raikin, E. Peha, M. water and many other famous artists and musicians.
