Odessa Archaeological Museum, one of the oldest in Ukraine, was founded in 1825 and the official collector IP Blamberhom based on his collection, donated by the city.

In 1883, on the site of old structure built a new museum building, designed by architect FW Honsiorovskoho.

The museum was thoroughly repaired and partly rebuilt in 2003 through the efforts of the Hellenic Foundation for Culture and the name of the fund Anastasios G. Leventisa.

Today, the museum houses more than 160,000 items.
