Sokal - district center Sokal district, Lviv region. Located on the right bank of the river Western Bug at 78 km. from the city. It is home to 25,145 people. The area is 8.47 km. square. The city has its own railway station, syudoyu as suburban trains and commuter.
The first written mention of the city dates back to 1377 Sokal year. The documents referred to as Sokal city Belz principality. In 1424 he received the Magdeburg Law, from 1462 Sokal - county town of Belz region of Poland. In the years 1772-1918 belonged to Austria, until 1939 the county town of Lviv province.
