Among the museums of Europe is one of the oldest in the scientific funds - the State natural history Museum of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.

It was founded in the 19th century. And sacrament directly to the base is count Vladimir Dusicky, the patron-naturalist.

The Museum Fund comprises more than 500 thousand units of storage.

For all time of existence of the Museum (since 1870) published 55 monographs, 31 including periodic book «Scientific notes», 10 thematic collections of scientific works, 21 catalogue, 1 dictionary, 6 guide to the Museum, about 1600 articles.

In 2012, the Museum received from Rinat Akhmetov's Foundation grant for development.

As for children, and for adults interesting for inspection will be a unique thing, namely: collection of rocks and minerals (from pre-Cambrian to the Quaternary period); the collection of 15 rows of regional and tropical insect fauna, as well as the Pleistocene insects; collection of fishes, amphibians, reptiles, birds (stuffed animals, carcasses and eggs), among which one of the largest in Europe of a unique collection of albinos and melanistic, and mammals (stuffed animals, carcasses, skulls and horns); herbarium of vascular plants (international index - LWS).
