The Museum is special because it is situated in the former house of Ivan Franko. This is not a personal Ivan Franko's house - he lived there from 1902 and 1915.

In the summer of 1949 on the courtyard of the Museum is a bust of Ivan Franko's works Gregory Pivovarova. in 1998, the former home Hrushevsky (№ 154 on the street Franco), which was used by the Museum, opened a separate State memorial Museum of Mikhail Hrushevsky.

23 August 2011 decree of the President of Ukraine's Lviv literary-memorial Museum of Ivan Franko granted national status.

At the Lviv Museum chronologically depicts the life and career of Frank. It collected about 4 thousand exhibits. Than household equipment (office and personal items) in the Lviv Museum contains almost all first editions of works, coffee archive Frank and reviews on his letters, archival documents, photographs, manuscripts, materials related to his literary and scientific, political and public activities, anniversary celebrations, and funerals.
