In Lviv there are separate departments of Lviv art gallery, and here one of these branches is the art Museum of the ancient Ukrainian book. The Foundation of the Museum took place in 1976.

To see the entire Museum must pass four halls: the first two permanent exhibition halls tell about Russian books of the 15th-18th centuries, there are manuscripts and incunabula, early printed books, exhibition covers the history of printing houses that existed on the territory of Ukraine. Among the exhibits there are books Chipolte printed by Fiol and Skaryna, Muskoseepi the gospel, the Apostle, Primer and Ostroh Bible of Ivan Fedorov, Book of needs of Peter Graves, engravings masters of XVII-XVIII centuries - Ilya, Dionysius Senkevich, Nicodemus of Zubritsky, Ustasa Zavadskogo and many others. Exhibited engraved map of Galicia and Bukovina, the development of which lasted for 20 years (from 1772 until 1792), samples of ancient folk prints, salaries altar Gospels.

The third hall recreates the interior of a medieval printing with tokarskii and bookbinding machine press the 17th century which were confiscated in the printing Stauropegion Institute. These printing machines first half of the 17th century is the only preserved in Ukraine. In the Museum collection there are also machines for etchings and lithographs .

In the exhibition hall of the Museum exhibits book and art exhibitions.

In front of the Museum (first, in 1971 - at the Church of St. Onuphrius) is a monument to (diploma work Lviv sculptor Anatoly, a graduate of the Lviv Institute of applied and decorative art).

The Museum is open daily, except Monday, from 11:00 to 17:00.
