Among paleontological museums in Europe, the Paleontological Museum of the Lviv national University of Ivan Franko is one of the oldest.
The Museum presents a unique collection of paleontologic samples from different parts of the world.
The Fund of the Museum began to emerge in the first half of the 19th century. Since 1852 it as a separate component, first exhibited in the Mineralogy Museum, and since 1905 the single independent unit, Geological Museum, which in 2003 was renamed into the Museum of Palaeontology, since more than 95% of the samples are fossils.
The exhibits of the Museum show the history of geological development of our planet, all stages of evolution of the organic world and the biosphere. Museum collections use clearly is for research students, graduate students, and scientists.
