The national Museum in Lviv is also called among the citizens scientific and artistic Foundation of Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytsky. This Museum is one of the largest in Ukraine of the treasures of the national monuments of culture and art. Lviv has two buildings that are ready for inspection (main building at address Prospekt Svobody 20, second building at address Dragomanova street, 42).

The Museum founded in 1905, the Greek Catholic Metropolitan Andrei Sheptytsky. The Fund is more than 100 thousand exhibits.

A special pride is the largest and most complete in Ukraine collection of medieval Ukrainian sacral art of the XII-XVIII centuries. These icons, sculptures, manuscripts and old printed books, decorative carvings, metal-plastic Windows and embroidered Church textiles. The most comprehensive in the collection of the Museum presented the icon of the 14th-18th century, mainly from the territory of Western Ukraine.

Enriched the collection and gifts of the workers of culture and education of the clergy, as well as treasures from the collections of Stauropegion Institute, Lviv Greek Catholic Metropolitanate and the Chapter house of the society «Prosvita», NTSH, people's houses, Theological scientific society, the library of the Holy fathers of the Basilians, handed over to the Museum after 1939, in particular the gospel.

The pride of the Museum collection are a number of original works of Taras Shevchenko.

Separate attention the collection of works of folk art, which was formed already in the first years of its existence the Museum. Today, they comprise more than 20 thousand units and represent all typological kinds and genres of folk art, embracing the period XVII-XX centuries It ceramics, bone, metal, fabric, embroidery, woodcarving, folk clothes, Easter eggs, embroidery, drawing on glass.
